Space Shuttle takes final flight over Washington

Today the Space Shuttle Discovery took its final flight on top of a modified 747 over Washington on its way to the Smithsonian Nation Air and Space Museum. Crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the retired shuttle Discovery which made a sweep of the capital region, over monuments, before landing at Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia.


After 39 successful missions Discovery`s new home will be at the Smithsonian where it will replace the Enterprise.
